About Us

The Mercy Centre School is an Alternative Provider of Basic Education and Training Primary School. It was established in 1998 in the Lokori Parish with the aim of providing non-formal education to the local residents hence access to basic literacy and numeracy.
Owing that the herds boys/shepherds could not attend the morning classes, a class was hence set up for them in the Parish library and later in 2003, two classrooms were built for the shepherds and a night class was set up for the traditional girls.
The school target group includes:
- Shepherd boys – who spend their days caring for animals.
- Girls – girls who are engaged in carrying firewood, water and those who are actively engaged in house chores during day. The girls in this community face many challenges as witnessed through early marriages once they reach 14 or 15 years.
- Offering Night Classes to adults and children from Monday to Friday.
